Sarah Keitt for State Rep

I am running for State Representative for Connecticut’s 134th House District because I feel my lived experiences have given me a unique perspective on how we can make Connecticut a place where people from all backgrounds can thrive.

FAIRFIELD, Conn., May 9, 2022  —

Fairfielder Sarah Keitt has announced that she will seek the Democratic Party’s nomination for State Representative in Connecticut’s 134th House District, which serves portions of Fairfield and Trumbull. The official nominating convention will take place Wednesday, May 11th at McKinley School in Fairfield.

“I am excited to launch my campaign for State Rep in the 134th,” Keitt said, “I am running because I believe we can achieve more when we listen to each other and work together towards common goals. When I ran for and won my current seat on Fairfield’s Town Plan and Zoning Commission, I knocked on doors and talked to people across the political spectrum. What I learned is that despite our political differences, deep down we all want the same things: a safe and healthy place to live, work, raise a family, and eventually retire.”

“I am running because I want to make sure Connecticut’s economy continues to grow and that all our residents have access to economic opportunities at the local level. I want to ensure that our educational system remains one of the best in the nation and that our state remains one of the safest and healthiest places in the country to raise a family.”

Keitt moved to Fairfield six years ago with her husband, George, and two children, Lucy and Theo, who both attend Fairfield’s public schools. She holds a Master’s in Public Health from George Washington University (GWU) and has over 20 years of experience as a public health advocate at the national, state, and local levels working to build healthier communities for some of our most vulnerable populations. A former adjunct instructor in community health at GWU, Keitt has also been published in several peer-reviewed journals on various issues relating to women’s health and health policy.

“Sarah is a practical leader, willing to address a broad range of difficult issues and get to workable solutions.” said State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey (133rd House District) in an endorsement of Keitt, “She is personable, knowledgeable, and brings public health education and experience to the table. Fairfield and Trumbull would be fortunate to have Sarah Keitt serve as the next Representative of the 134th district.”

State Representative Jennifer Leeper (132nd House District) added in an endorsement, “I am thrilled that Sarah Keitt has stepped up to share her experience, knowledge, and practical approach with our community by running for State Representative in the 134th district. As a public health expert and alternate on the Town Plan and Zoning Commission, she possesses particularly relevant experience to bring forward workable solutions for many of the challenging issues that lie ahead. Fairfield and Trumbull would be well served to have Sarah as their next State Representative.”

Fairfield Democratic Town Committee (DTC) Chair, Steven Sheinberg, said of Keitt, “Sarah is an effective community leader who knows what it takes to bring competing interests to the table and build consensus, which is desperately needed in Hartford at this time. She cares about people and the community, not scoring political points, and will legislate based on fact, not fear.”
